Exploring our Past Explorers!
As a group your job will be to learn as much you can about the explorer that your group selects. As a class we will use this website to select our explorer and as a research tool.Here are some things that must be included in your project.
1. Include background information about your explorer. (ex. birth date, education, family history,etc)
2. When did they explore?
3. What problems did they encounter?
4. What technology or tools were used by your explorer?
5. What was their impact and/or impact of their exploration on society?
6. Any other interesting or thought provoking information you discover!!
****The information that you learn must be presented to the whole class. How you present it will be up to your group but please use a tool that you are familiar with and have used before. Your project must be approved by your teacher. Other websites and other resource links can be found below. Also below is the rubric that you and your partner will be graded.

Welcome to the Explorer's Webquest! On this journey you are asked to take specific notes. Make sure you follow instructions, and REREAD instructions to make sure you will earn full credit.
You may choose to work with a partner to complete this webquest. Turn in ONE response, with both names and numbers on the paper.
1. People have been exploring our Earth since the beginning of time. However, the Age of Exploration (1500 - 1700's) has some of the most documented explorers on history. Read this article to find the six different reasons why Europeans explored the world during this time.
List the six different reasons why Europeans explored. (2 points for each reason = 12 points)
2. Discuss with your partner, who do you believe is the first person to discover and explore North America? Write down your thoughts in your notebook.
Now watch this video. According to this video, who is the first person to discover and explore North American? (3 points)
3. Ferdinand Magellan was one of the first explorers in the Age of Exploration.
List three challenges Magellan encountered during his travels. (2 points for each challenge = 6 points)
4. Neil Armstrong is a modern explorer.
List three challenges Armstrong encountered while he prepared for, and explored outer space.
(2 points for each challenge = 6 points)

5. Create a Venn Diagram. Compare and contrast the challenges of exploring during the Age of Exploration and Today. Your diagram needs a total of 10 details. (1 point for every detail = 10 points)
