Homework Policy
Homework increases a little bit each year. Fifth graders are expected to read 30 minutes every night of the week. This includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They may read for 90 minutes straight over the weekend if they wish, or any combination adding up to 90 minutes. Please help your child grow as a reader by setting aside a quiet place and time for them to do this homework. The students are required to take home all homework, even if they completed it in class. This is told to them on a daily basis. They must check their mailboxes daily!! Place their mail into the green take home folder.
Other homework may include studying for upcoming tests, math problems, spelling, and science or social studies projects. Incomplete or missing homework will be completed at recess, after school and/or taken home the next night. Some kind of study guide or review will be given to the students the night before the test. Any upcoming project will be listed on the appropriate subject on this website with specific details.
Birthdays
Please feel free to send a treat on the day of your child’s birthday. Please be sure to send napkins with the treat and any other utensils that may be helpful.
Instead of the traditional cupcakes and cookies consider sending a healthy snack for the class. This could include fruit, crackers, low sugar cookies, chex mix, pretzels, dehydrated fruit, etc. We typically enjoy our treats and snacks at 10:50 in the morning. If you are interested in coming in to serve the treat, please contact me through an email or a note in your student's agenda.
