I think that a train of wagon's is heading west, and I notice that most of what looks like men are walking, maybe because there is little room in the wagon. and it looks as if they are heading there in the spring beginning of summer.

Aidan, that was very observant of you to notice that most of the people were walking on the trails. Many women / wives did not travel west until their husbands established property and land. However, some entire families traveled on the trails. Can you imagine young children walking across the United States? Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

It looks like hundredths of pioneers are going west possible for the gold rush in California which in started January 24 1848 or just to start a business for gold miners so they make a fair profit of the gold rush also I notice that majored of the pioneers are on wagons and few are on their feet possible lost their wagons or could afford one so headed west for gold so they could be rich and not have to walk every place they go and simply take their wagons.

I think this is a small portion of the people traveling west on the Oregon Trail, and I don't think they were the first people to travel on the Oregon Trail because the grass looks very pummeled. I also think that this was taken place during fall because autumn is usually a little chilly, and they are all wearing long-sleeves shirts. I also think this because many people were heading westward at this time, which is also why it relates to westward expansion. I also see quite a few amount of people walking, and they're probably going on foot because they don't have huge carriages, but they do have a great quantity of family members, so they're walking because of the lack of space! That is what I think this picture is representing!

Impressive ideas Momo, I really enjoyed how you explained about what the Oregon Trail looked like and how the pioneers are. For example, you explain how the pioneers were all wearing long-sleeves, and how that connected to might being autumn outside. Also, you said that the grass or hay was all pummeled. I could relate to your comment to the picture. Great work!

I agree with you that the the weather might be Autumn. Did you also notice that when the pioneers were going west they were trying to go together? For example,in one of the row the pioneers on the wagons on your left were going in a line. You had very good thinking about the picture. Good Job!

Excellent ideas Mo-mo! I didn't notice that much detail, but since you brought that up that is really good that you noticed the details. You did a good job telling how you think what the picture is representing.

I'd say this looks like a wagon train, so it could have been taken on the Oregon Trail during westward expansion. This shows a big part of westward expansion too, because it shows how people started moving in that direction. It is probably summertime, because of sunny skies, grass showing, nobody looks cold, and there is no snow. I could maybe be fall or spring though, since some grass looks dead, but that could also be because of the wagons.

Aiden, great job inferring that this picture could be of the Oregon Trail. I agree with you! Did you notice that many of the people are walking, and the trail was very dusty? This makes me think that traveling west must have been very tiring and challenging. Thank you for posting your thoughts!

I agree with you on that the travelers are trying to make a new settlement because there are so many people, but i do think you could explain a little more on why it might be spring, or why this might be the Oregon trail, but overall nice thinking

I think this picture is of a bunch of pioneers heading West, possibly on the Oregon Trail. I think this picture was taken in the great plains because it seems like the land is mostly flat and dry. I notice that people are walking and I am guessing that their wagons were full of supplies for their new home. This picture was probably taken in spring of fall because the people in the picture are wearing long sleeves and the plants look dead, but the death of the plants could possibly be from all of the wagons running over them. This relates to the Westward Expansion because the people might be heading to California to strike it rich and that's what many people went West for, but you never know they could have been going for more land or something else like that.

This picture was taken when pioneers were on the Oregon Trail. I think this picture was at the Oregon Trail. This picture relates to Westward Expansion because pioneers are traveling on the Oregon Trail to get somewhere. It looks like these pioneers were traveling on the Oregon Trail even if it’s very dusty, lots of just land and people walking. This picture was taken in the 1800 hundreds.

I believe that this is a picture of hundreds of Native Americans, traveling out west on the Oregon Trail. I think this picture is at a damp, muddy, trail possibly the Oregon Trail. I think these Native Americans were traveling out west so they can find some new land and freedom to live in. This relates to the West Ward expansion because hundreds of people, traveled on the Oregon Trail to reach freedom.

I loved your thought. Don't you think that those are pioneers trying to find new land for their religious beliefs. Great job i can tell you worked very hard.

I agree with you Kenzie, that it might be the Oregon Trail, but I disagree with you that the Native Americans are traveling to the West. I think the settlers are going west not the Native Americans, because they are wearing traditional clothing and the pioneers used the Oregon Trail (traditionally). Thanks for posting!

I think this is a picture of people crossing the great plains. I think they are trying to get freedom. I also think they are trying to move because of religious believes. It also looks like they are tired and they been walking for a while. This relates to westward expansion because a lot of people wanted a good piece of land to make a house or even to have a bigger property.
